Best Photo Galleries

What photo galleries do people recommend? I'm looking for cool eclectic spots maybe a bit off the beaten path. I've enjoyed some of the ICP shows and have been to the SoHo Gallery. What are your favs?

There are a bunch of art / gallery spaces in Williamsburg. And, the Galapagos moved to the Dumbo area and they have photo exhibits often, I believe.

And more than that - a lot of cafes in Williamsburg/Bushwick use their walls as gallery space for budding photographers. I've seen some really good ones (and some not so great) at Boulevard cafe on Bushwick Ave.

ICP is really great. The MOMA has an excellent permanent collection for photography, they try to have all the major artists represented by at least a couple of pieces, but what they're showing at any given moment will rotate. I also like PS 1 because they show the hot contemporary artists, lot of photography and video in the mix. Love love love photography, but I don't get much time to do my own...

I came across this recently and thought it could be relevant here: http://www.urban75.org/photos/newyork/

People's private photos of NYC, kind of like a big NYC portrait...

The think about MOMA, @Dblack, is that it's super-super-super expensive - the entry fee is outrageous! For another online source, consider http://www.forwardthinkingmuseum.com, a nonprofit supported by New Yorker Howard Stein

@jadeidealist Wait, but for like $35 you can get a student membership to the MOMA and then get in free all year long. That's a pretty great deal.
