Best place to take photographs

I have taken photographs in the City for years and I would love to hear from some of you about some new places that I might be able to find off the beaten path. I have done most of the usual places but want something more unique...Thanks in advance for the info.

It's not too far off the beaten path, but the promenade in DUMBO is home to my absolute favorite view of the skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge.

I think Columbia is quite photogenic. The buildings are grand and the sun always seems to shine a little brighter there.

@JenMac: Your description of Columbia is quite interesting. It makes me want to go there to see the place myself.

@JenMac I do agree with you Columbia is quite imposing and Riverside Drive on the Upper West Side is also quite gorgeous..

Ah, yes, Riverside Drive is really beautiful.

The Brownstones in Park Slope are also on the gorgeous side!

I think I mentioned this before, but I have a few photographer friends that enjoy the antiquity and aesthetic of Coney Island.

I love most waterfronts, either in Manhattan or Brooklyn, or even in Jersey. It's amazing how rarely I remember that we are in fact surrounded by water like nowhere else.

@Uraniumfish I totally second that opinion.. I adore living near a water body or at least having a water view..mountains just dont do it for me.

@Uraniumfish It's weird... I forget the same thing all the time. I often think about how a lot of European cities are divided by a river and wish it were the same here.. then I remember that Manhattan is, um, and island and that there are beaches in Brooklyn!

@uptowngirl I am with you there.. but then again, I am from a mountain-less place and they kind of fascinate me. But, bodies of water over mountains any day.

@Everybody In college a German boy who had a crush on me took me out on a little sailboat through the Hudson and the harbor. Sigh. So great. He was on a tiny scholarship in NY but he'd managed to buy himself a sailboat with the money a find a relatively inexpensive place to dock in in Brooklyn. And this was a guy who wasn't even from NY.

Uraniumfish: That is so cool. It just goes to show that if you're creative you can find a beautiful day all over New York!

I'm not a water person. I love the mountains, so waterfronts don't interest me, however, my girlfriend loves water. When she mentions going to the seaport to watch the waves, I agree and go with her. She claims to have a connection with God while close to the water.
