@uraniumfish, Bill still has the charm to draw the crowds but just learned through CNN that he asked some Democrat in Florida to opt out of the race.Btw Obama is headed to my home city of Mumbai next weekend.I still remember the mass hysteria Bill Clinton's visit had generated. I wonder if Obama will evoke the same response. Even then I wish I was in Mumbai to experience if first hand.

@uptowngirl How come it's only our Democratic presidents the rest of the world loves? Nobody made a fuss over Bush's overseas visits...either of the Bushes, actually.

Like Cuomo isn't going to win anyway.

@uptowngirl Meek? I was just reading about that: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130900422 I don't think it's true, however, since Clinton campaigned for Meek. But there is a three way race for the FL senate seat and the left is split between Meek and Christ, so plenty of people have been suggesting Meek step down. Actually, all of the candidates are pretty shady if you ask me. I'm still registered to vote in FL, if you can't tell. I actually just found out that you don't need a NY ID to be registered here! Too late now, though, as I already mailed in my ballot.

@Uraniumfish I don't know if it's necessarily about the Democrats vs. the Republicans. I think everyone loves a pretty boy president. It's not like Clinton and Obama haven't dropped their share of bombs on the rest of the world.

@Uraniumfish BroadwayBk has a point there, some Democrat Presidents are just way more charismatic than their Republican counterparts.

Doesn't it also matter what part of the world we are talking about? European countries will probably favor Democratic ideals over Republican ones, but can we say that for places like China? There is a lot of talk about China and India coming up in the world, but I wouldn't have the first clue as to the political thinking of the people there. Maybe, @uptowngirl, you can help me out?

@NeverSleeps India prides itself as being the world's largest democracy and thus seems to align itself with democratic Presidents. I think the love affair began with JFK who's wife Jackie visited India during his term. My dad and his friends were huge fans of JFK and his ' Ask not your country can do for you' speech was actually included as a part of our English curriculum in school. I can't remember any other American president being featured as much. The Clintons also had an extremely close relationship with India and several Indian businessmen in the US have campaigned actively for the Clintons though historically much of the Indian diaspora has supported the Republicans. In fact the nuclear deal between the US and India was signed during Bush's term. Obama's visit this weekend has generated huge excitement in Mumbai and funnily enough rather than focusing on politics the visit is seeking to increase trading relations between the two countries. Will keep you posted on the outcome.

@uptowngirl Isn't India relying on trade to jump start its economy even further? And of course they have a huge market over here, so that's not really surprising. I'd jump on that Obama visit too.

@BroadwayBK just came across this new article by Thomas Friedman that explains the current US-India relationship in greater detail- I can actually vouch for the sense of optimism and the can do feeling in India currently, when I first came to this country, this is the first thing that struck me about the US but the last two years have eroded it all-
