Only in New York
Only in New York would someone come up with the Punch Me Panda:

WT? A Punch Me Panda? I figure this item is for those with anger issues and suppressed emotions. A pillow works fine but isn't worth marketing as an anger management item. Also, poor lil toy panda. I hope it doesn't spawn animal cruelty.

There are a LOT of New Yorkers with anger issues, Freyja4.

@NeverSleeps Hah! Not angry enough to punch anything in public. But in the privacy of my own home....? Perhaps the punch me panda home version?

I could punch something right now, but pandas are too cute. That guy should dress up as a bedbug. Punch a bedbug! You gotta address the times.

I'm with you, BroadwayBK! The times indeed say punch a bedbug, if you must punch at all. We have to get to somebody's marketing department with this.

I agree with Uraniumfish. There are many New Yorkers with anger issues. This city puts a lot of pressure on people, and some people just can't cope with it. That's why there is so much alcoholism, drug addiction, and psychiatrist offices being loaded with patients.

@BroadwayBk Great idea and so au courrant! Hey do you think the big freeze killed all the bed bugs?

@Uptowngirl: I don't know. I do know I have seen less roaches since the big freeze. In fact, I haven't seen one roach in days. So I'm happy about that.

@uptowngirl I think bedbugs spread in the warmer weather, they're less of an issue in winter.
@hhusted Indeed! It seems like everyone in this city has a shrik. Maybe we should amend our view of New York as the place where all the creative ambitious people flock, to the place where all the neurotics flock!

@uptowngirl @Uraniumfish Does weather really effect bedbugs? I think I read somewhere (probably here) that bedbugs can live in walls and spend up to a year without feeding... Is that how they spend winter?

Here's a note about bedbug activity through the seasons-its in reference to the critters in the UK but I think the same applies to the pests here.

How could anyone ever punch a Panda, or any teddy bear? I still have one, and I like to cuddle him (shush, I've had him since I was born!) And I'm a bona fide New Yorker! Clearly I don't have Real NYer Anger...

Speaking of neurotics, did anyone read this pretty crazy article about a neurotic organizer who, for $150 an hour, will throw away your children's old toys? Slightly terrifying, but very New York: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/09/nyregion/09organizer.html?src=me&ref=homepage

@ajadedidealist OMG this is so NYC! Actually I had a friend who wanted to do the same for a living..organizing people's closets but her husband was not too happy about her going to strange homes ..he thought it was a safety issue.

@ajadedidealist Perhaps New Yorkers go one of two ways - they turn into panda punchers or eternal teddy bear cuddlers.

As for organizing closets, you can get paid really well for helping anyone organize anything. But I don't blame the husband.

@ajadedidealist @uptowngirl Such a profession appeals to my meticulous nature, actually. My mother was something of a pack rat, so I subsequently became a true minimalist. And with the lack of space that we generally have in our NYC apartments, a talented organizer is going to make bank!
