The City's Top Chinese Eateries

VV blogger Robert Sistema rated the city's top Chinese restaurants: http://blogs.villagevoice.com/forkintheroad/archives/2010/09/our_10_best_chi_1.php

Has anyone ever visited any of these? Would love to hear any feedback - Chinese outings sounds really fabulous for these upcoming winter months.

@NeverSleeps I have never even heard of any of these and I love Chinese food-my husband often jokes that he never used to venture beyond 14th street until he met me and had to go to Chinatown ever so often. I too have my own favorites- Grand Sichuan International on 125 Canal Street for hot pot and Golden Unicorn on 18 E Broadway
(between Catherine St & Market St) for dim sum.

I recently ventured down to Sunset in Brooklyn for the first time and had some really, really good dim sum. We were the only non-Asians in the entire place....I find that's usually a good sign when it comes to quality Chinese places in Chinese neighborhoods.

@BroadwayBk that's a very accurate observation,the Chinese really know their food -for instance dim sums are judged to be good/bad on the basis of the thinness of the skin of the wrapper. A doughy wrapper is always a no-no.

@BroadwayBK Where did you go? I live not too far from Sunset and venture down to Pacificana and Prosperity often. I think the Prosperity down there is way cleaner and more awesome than the one in the LES. I also get my hair cut in Sunset...it's so cheap!

@uptowngirl I didn't know that! Where's a good place to find a non-doughy wrappers?

@NeverSleeps The gigantic Golden Unicorn has decent dim sum with not too doughy wrappers. Do try it out if you haven't already and let me know what you make of it?

@NeverSleeps Pacificana is awesome! I went there with a friend who lives in the area. They sat us in the back, though, and I quickly realized that it's much better to be in the front, closer to the kitchen where they bring out the food. I can't believe how huge that place is, and how packed it was. But I can see why it's the place to go in Sunset Park.

I'm glad I don't live down there, I would fatten up on dumplings. How do your haircuts turn out?

So, which has the better Chinese food? Sunset Park or Chinatown?
