The Music Of New York
I love music. My great-grandfather was a pianist. Music is in our blood. That and art. This summer as with any other summer, New York will offer a great and fine selection of free concerts. What makes free concerts more great is that it makes it easier to take the family. You don't have to worry about the costs other than outside the concert if you plan on making a day full of family fun. Here are just a few of the many, many concerts going on around New York.
1.) Central Park Summerstage Free!
Frequent summer concerts at the Central Park Summerstage, located at Rumsey Playfield. Some concerts are benefits, but many are free!
2.) NBC's Today Show Summer Concerts Free!
On Friday mornings (mostly) from May - August catch some great performers at Rockefeller Center.
3.) Naumburg Orchestral Concerts 2010 Free!
The oldest free outdoor concert series in the US, the Naumburg features symphonic and semi-classical music on select Tuesdays in Central Park's Naumburg Bandshell.
4.) Broadway in Bryant Park Free!

9.) Lincoln Center Out Of Doors Free!

10.) Summergarden Free!

With these and more you could literally make a great summer in music. It's great, too if you have your kids coming into town and you want to spend quality time with them. Add music to each fun filled day. I've been to many music concerts and festivals. New York is wonderful in the summer. Go to http://gonyc.about.com/cs/music/a/summermusic.htm to see a whole list of music events for the summer. Seriously, make summer fun. You could even suggest some of these to family or friends who live outside of New York. With a mix of music and sight-seeing and whatnot, they'll have the time of their life.
