Is this a safe neighborhood safe to live and take a walk?

We wanted to rent a place on 22nd street and division ave. Is it safe to walk your dog? We are a lesbian blended family with teens. We keep to ourselves . We just want to know if we will be ok to live in that area. We heard it wasnt the safest neighborhood. Has anything changed to make it any better? We just dont want no problems. Any advice or input would be appreciated!!
