Safety in Northside for family living

Were looking at moving to Northside- right on the corner of Kirby and Chase. We have a 2 year old son and my question is about how family friendly the neighborhood is- and safety wise if theres a lot of issues. We know its an urban community and has some city living feelings so were not expecting suburbia. Just want to make sure it would be an okay choice to raise our son in.

We would be flipping the house we would be moving in to. We know that side of Kirby hasnt fully been renovated like some other streets.
