"Oakdale, MN-Convenient Location!"
Oakdale, MN is one of the most convenient locations while still remaining a suburban community. Located adjacent to the 3M and Imation corporate headquarters and with excellent access to I-94, I694- and Highway 36, Oakdale is just minutes from downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis. If you don't want to drive, a convenient express bus stops in Oakdale.
Housing is available in a variety of price points, from affordable town homes to large executive homes. Property taxes are moderate for the area, and you get a lot for your tax dollar. Road conditions are good, police and fire departments are responsive, schools are very good (ISD 622), and the excellent parks in Oakdale create an excellent quality of life in the area. The city sponsors a variety of activities and there are a number of ways one can get involved in the community.
ISD 622 serves Oakdale, Maplewood and North St. Paul. North High School and Tartan High School are the public high schools, and for those seeking private school options, Hill Murray is an excellent option for a Catholic education. Several parochial schools are either within Oakdale's boundaries (Transfiguration) or near by (Gethsemane). A vibrant faith community exists in Oakdale, with a diverse selection of houses of worship.
Several shopping centers are conveniently located, and include grocery stores, big box retailers (Kmart, Target, Best Buy, Guitar Center, Home Goods, Menards, Fleet Farm etc), two large movie theaters, and popular restaurants, including some terrific independent restaurants (try Sergeant Pepper's for a great burger!) Oakdale is also very close to the shopping in nearby cities such as Maplewood Mall in Maplewood, and Tamarack Village in Woodbury.
