Is the Sing-Sing prison still operational?

Yes, it is a maximum security prison. Overall, it is a good neighbor with very little traffic or noise. You really have to go out of your way to reach it on smaller streets near the riverfront.

I believe it's still is a functioning prison. There has been talk of closing it down and using the real estate for other purposes such as a museum but as of now it is still said to house more than 1,500 prisoners and it employs nearly 1000 people.
