Looking for best location to spend xmas near Philadelphia

My wife and I live in CA and will be spending a week in the Philadelphia area to be with my mom, who is living in a nursing community in Lansdale. We want to find a great place to rent a house for the week. We're looking for a historic, quaint vibe, with holiday lights, a lighted Christmas tree, shopping, nice restaurants, etc. cobblestones and being on the water would be nice too. We were thinking about New Hope, but thinking that somewhere closer to the city would be better. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
