Is Rossville, Staten Island a nice place to live?

Is Rossville a nice to place to live considering that some people say that Rossville Avenue is not such a nice place to live? Also, I realize that Staten Island's South Shore is better than the North Shore like Ward Hill for example. We saw some homes there, but many people tell us to steer clear of that area due to the high crime.
