"Nice and quiet, but beware of certain communities"
Overall, Safety Harbor is a small quiet community that has managed to avoid the traffic and vagrants of neighboring Clearwater and Oldsmar. The downtown is quaint with several off the beaten path and reasonably priced restaurants and shops. Crime is fairly low and congestion minimal. However, there are major exceptions. The 4th of July fireworks should be avoided at all costs. The town simply can't handle the influx of people and traffic is jammed for hours to get out. Also, although Safety Harbor continues to improve seedier areas with upscale townhomes, etc., it has one ghetto area along the Ninth Ave. RR tracks that continues to causes minor problems. There was a shooting at the fireworks last year and the area simply is not safe to walk through. Several condo complexes are also notoriously inhospital to kids or minorities, especially Yorktown at Beacon Place, which resents being forced by federal law not to limit to age 55 and will simply harass "undesirable" tenants into leaving.
Pros
- Quaint and off the beaten path.
- Minimal congestion.
Cons
- Older and less tolerant residents
- Some parts of town still not safe
