Best Pizza Places in San Francisco
I am from the East coast and I LOVE pizza. I have made it my goal to find good pizza in San Francisco for the past 10 years. Alas, I have found a few that I think are worthy of the East Coast palate.
1. Tony's Neopolitana
Let's just simply say that San Francisco knows what good pizza tastes like finally. Named after the owner, Tony, who was a World Cup Pizza winner in Naples Italy in 2007, everything is baked in 3 different wood fired ovens. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and on the weekends it gets crowded. However, they also do take-out so if you don't want to battle the lines, call ahead and place your order. Located at 1570 Stockton St. this is by far the BEST pizza San Francisco
2. ZA Gourmet
Za is a new word in the Scrabble dictionary that stands for pizza and this is some good pizza. Located in Nob Hill on Hyde Street, the thing about this pizza that makes it unique is the cornmeal crust, which is crispy on the bottom. You can also eat it, order take-out and they deliver. Address is 1919 Hyde St at Green St, (415) 771-3100
3. Patxi's
Located in San Francisco’s Marina district this little pizzeria offers up Chicago style, thin crust or extra thin crust pizza. It also offers up salads, appetizers and mini pizzas, but the reason to come here is for the pizza. You create your own masterpiece pizza with toppings to choose from like pineapple, salami, sun dried tomatoes and many more.
Located at 3318 Fillmore St, SF, 94123 | 415.345.3995 and also a location on Hayes Street.
4. Tomasso Ristorante Italiano
Best known for their homemade Italian food, they also make thin crusted pizza. Sometimes the weight of the toppings can make it a little soft, but it's still quite tasty. The sauce is delicious. This was my favorite until Tony's came along. Eat in or take-out. No delivery. Located at 1042 Kearny St, (415) 398-9696
