What's the area of Sunset/Parkside like?

I'm a big fan of the Sunset District as section of SF where you can be just far enough from the action where you can raise a family and be somewhat able to afford it. It is also a good spot for couples who might have one attending SFSU just to the south while the other works in say the Financial District. You also have the Zoo nearby, Golden Gate Park to the north, the beach to the west and Haight to the north east. It is a pretty nice spot.
