El Jebel

El Jebel is a small mountain town of 3,800 people. It lies roughly in between Aspen and Glenwood Springs several hours west of Denver. Both the median household income of $62,852 and the median household price of $461,582 are both higher than state averages. The most common industries that people living here work in are construction, accommodation/food services, waste management, and health care.

One of the best things about El Jebel is the location. If you're not needing to be at a mall every weekend and you enjoy the outdoors, this is a great little town. While there aren't many services there is a Wendy's, a Starbucks, a couple of restaurants, and a Kroger grocery store. In some of the neighboring towns, there are more dining options. What El Jebel has to offer though, is so much more. The name El Jebel is Hebrew and roughly translated means the mountain of God, and it's easy to see why it was named this. There is quick access to world class skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, biking, fishing, fly fishing, backpacking, hunting, and any other outdoor adventure you can think of. There are beautiful views no matter which way you look, and the friendliness of the townspeople is truly genuine.

Since El Jebel is so small, the children who live here go up the road to Carbondale to go to school. The schools in Carbondale are overall rated average when it comes to state testing standards. A couple of the schools rate higher and a couple lower.

Overall, I would highly recommend El Jebel for the friendly people, the incredible amount of outdoor activities available, and the general laid back feel of this small mountain town. Even if you're not looking to move to a place such as this, it is well worth a visit.
