"Living by the Lake"
Evanston is my new home town. Though many residents have lived there entire lives here, many others like me are new to this city and find Evanston a welcoming community that values both excellence and equity. Living by the lake provides a high quality of life. Many luxury apartment buildings have been recently built within walking distance of the Metra and CTA stops. Homeowners in Evanston take very good care of their property (for the most part) which makes this a good place to invest your housing dollar. Evanston schools are strong. Downtown Evanston, the Main/Dempster district, and "Top 10" Central Street offer unique shopping and dining experiences. With Chicago as your neighbor to the South, Evanston is perhaps the best suburb around.
Pros
- Lighthouse Beach!
- Walkable Downtown Evanston
- Northwestern University
Cons
- Taxes & Fees
- Highway access limited

"Great for a safe, quiet, and relaxed life"
I have lived here my whole life. I only know of Evanston compared to the places I've been to. There are two parts of Evanston: the side near Evanston Township High School, which is slightly sketchy on the Church and Dodge side, but okay (during the day) on the Lake st. side. The expensive side near the lake.
However, after you've lived here long enough- and you're a high schooler- you're ready to get out.

Besides, you can enjoy the library in downtown and plenty of the good restaurants in downtown Evanston and there are 4 Chinese restaurants, 2 Indian restaurants, 2 Japanese restaurants and other ethic restaurants in this area so you have a lot of choices.
This area is also a good place to celebrate international festivals as Edgewater, Chicago.
Also you can stay away from the nasty road traffic in downtown Chicago!
My giving score towards Evanston: 9.5 out of 10
