"A small town just east of I-25"
Many people pass by Firestone on their way somewhere else. It lies just east of the highway and has several places to conveniently stop for gas and fast food. Since it's located so close to the highway it offers the residents who number just over 10,000 a rather easy commute to Fort Collins, Denver, or any of the larger cities the highway passes through.
The home prices in Firestone list around $180,000 for a median priced single family home. The estimated median income for residents is $80,000 with the majority of the population being white, with Hispanics coming in second at approximately 20%.
While there isn't much to do in Firestone, unless you like to golf, there are numerous things to do in the towns closest to Firestone. It is also located in close proximity to the mountains for all types of outdoor adventures. When you're in the neighborhood there is a nice feel of a smaller town without all the hustle and bustle of the busy highway just to the west.
The schools in Firestone have tested below average on state standardized tests in recent years. However, the schools all average a student teacher ration of below 20:1 which is a good start to improving the testing scores across the board.
Overall I would recommend Firestone for families where one or more of the parents commute but want to live in a reasonably priced area.

"Firestone is a dusty highway stop"
Firestone is a small highway town east of the Boulder/Longmont area. I know a few friends that have braved the drive in and out of Firestone for the sake of “saving $” but they did not last long. There is an open, dry sweeping feeling out there and a conservative dullness that caught up on them. The cost of living is so much less than Boulder, mostly because there is nothing to buy out there! So the saying a penny saved in a penny earned is a good philosophy and one that is easier to follow when you live away from the city and all it has to offer.
With less than 2000 people Firestone is more a bedroom community of the Front Range cities than a community of its own. Whenever I was there I did not go anywhere else but the home of my friends, it doesn't seem like there is anywhere else to go? After researching a bit on line I learned that there are over 35 parks and the 12 mile long Firestone Trail. Getting away from the dusty highway energy may be pretty.

"Firestone Colorado - Overall Review"
Firestone is on the north edge of what is considered the "tri-town area". The triad consists of Firestone, Frederick and Dacono. We moved to the tri-town area 15 years ago and love it. It's primary draw for us was the easy access to I-25 while maintaining a small town feel. We can reach Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins within @30 min. commute. There are many ammenities in the tri-town area, including several grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, convenience stores, automotive services and banks. People are friendly and most are acquainted either through schools, an active business community and/or the excellent recreation programs. Cost of living is low compared to surrounding areas. Since the tri-town is located on the edge of Weld county, we have some of the lowest tax rates in the state. We do lack some public transportation and medical facility options. But both can be reached within @10 min drive. We do have a great new Urgent Care through Childrens Hospital located at the south end of the tri-town area. Firestone has more amenities than the other two towns and the Firestone government has been active in supporting growth to the area while maintaining the small town feel.
Pros
- Easy access to I-25
- Small town feel with amenities
- Located in Weld County with lower taxes
Cons
- Very little nightlife
- Could use more restaurants
- Have to drive @10 minutes to reach public transportation
