"Last big stop before Denver on I-76"
Fort Morgan's history is pretty interesting. Although it was just a minor outpost for the military, it soon became very important after the Sand Creek Massacre in which hundreds of unarmed Native Americans were slaughtered. The Native American Indians retaliated by attacking any travelers and settlers, making it difficult for supplies to get through the area heading towards Denver and Fort Collins. Fort Morgan began to grow into a large hub for the military, although it was short lived. The fort itself was never attacked and never saw any battles.
Fort Morgan is now home to just under 11,500 people, of which 48% are white and 43% are Hispanic. Black makes up the next highest group at almost 6%. The main industry here is manufacturing. The average household income is $43,298 while the average median priced home goes for $123,623. Both of these numbers are below the state averages.
Fort Morgan is just over an hour's drive to Denver and seems to be a quiet little town with cute, older homes in it. In outer lying areas you can find larger homes on a little bit of land.

"Fort Morgan is a mid-sized farming town along I-76"
Fort Morgan is a town of about 10,000 on the northeastern plains of Colorado along I-76 not far from Nebraska. There is a lot of farming in the area and also many people living there commute to Greeley or Fort Collins. There are historic buildings and homes, the name Fort Morgan comes from a military fort established there in 1865. The fort was set up long the Overland Trail and meant to protect the supplies and white folk making their way towards the mountains and the many mines at the time.
Today the town is focused around agriculture and the I-76 traffic and trucking industry that hauls through. The South Platte River lazily makes its way through the town and gives a solid centre to the town. There are often people on the trails and kayakers enjoying the river in the warmer months of the year. There seems a serious interest in the land among the people who live in the area, farming, gardening, animals and specifically horses get a lot of attention from the folk living in Fort Morgan. It is a classic northeastern Colorado farming town.
Land and home prices are more affordable than say in Fort Collins or Loveland to the west and to some degree more affordable than Greeley. Kids growing up in Fort Morgan have a lot of college options surrounding them. The equine junior college up in Sterling, CSU or CU or even DU down in the big city. The schools in Fort Morgan get fair ratings, it is not one of the strongest school districts in Colorado but the competition is stiff.
