"Something We Can All Be Proud Of!"
There are two people in town that the entire Town of Huntington can be proud of.
Walt Whitman High School senior Thomas Ciravolo and Principal Kathleen Acker will be participating in an "Honor Flight" to Washington, D.C. Through this special program Thomas and Ms. Acker will escort a World War II veteran, who does not have the resources or strength to make this trip on his own, on a tour o f our nation's capital. Once in Washington Tom, who is an Eagle Scout and Ms. Acker will escort their member of "The Greatest Generation" through the monuments, which will conclude with an emotional visit to the WWII Memorial.
Ms. Acker and Thomas welcome you to join them and honor our veterans on Saturday, May 3, at 6:15 a.m. - 7 a.m. for the departing flight, or 9:15 p.m. - 10 p.m. for the returning flight home at the main terminal in MacArthur Airport, Ronkonkoma. Although the times are a bit early and a little late, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our youth and community to honor those who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Feel free to bring banners, flags, or just yourselves to wish the veterans well on their trip. If you are coming in the morning, there should be time to chat and take pictures before they board the plane.
Now isn't that something to stand up and cheer about!
