"Nice Hillside Town"
A hillside town located in the southern Orange County, Laguna Niguel got its name from the Spanish word Laguna and the Juaneno Indian village called “Nigueli”. Laguna Niguel is a great city that has dedicated a third of their lands to remain as open space.
The people of Laguna Niguel have an annual median household income of about $98,000. This high end city also has many upscale neighborhoods like the Bear Brand ranch, Ocean Ranch, Rancho Niguel and many more. The residents also enjoy the great city view from the Monarch Point. They also get to enjoy watching the canyons and oceans right from their homes in these great neighborhoods. It has a high cost of living that exceeds the national average by 50%. The city also has good schools that are operated by the Capistrano Unified School District. It is also nearby to many colleges and universities such as the Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, the University of California, Irvine in Irvine and many more. Laguna Niguel also has private schools such as the St. Anne School.
Laguna Niguel is also well known for the Aliso & Wood Canyons Regional Park and the Laguna Niguel Lake. Situated in the Laguna Niguel Regional Park is a great fishing spot filled with trouts and bass. One should remember to obtain the proper permits before fishing at this lake. The regional park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities like boating, tennis, cycling and jogging.
Laguna Niguel is also home to the Niguel Botanical Preserve, a garden filled with plants suitable to grow in South California. This garden is decked with walking trails that connect the different specialty gardens within the preserve. This preserve aims to educate the people about new plant specides from all over the world and also introduce them to plants that are tolerant to drought conditions. Laguna Niguel also has its own skateboard and soccer park.
