"Interesting little town, small downtown area, a lot of neighborhoods with large lots."
Niwot ( named after Chief Niwot ) is a small town between Boulder and Longmont. Small downtown area with some great antique shops and good restaurants, pedestrian friendly downtown area. Most of the residential neighborhoods offer large lots around 1/2 to 1 acre, with mostly custom and semi-custom homes. With rolling hills as you head East and South in Niwot, there are some fantastic mountain views as well. Niwot High School is very popular and offers the International Baccalaureate program. They also have a good bike trail system. Mostly a bedroom community but quick access to Boulder and Longmont for everything you need.
Pros
- Niwot High School
- Larger lots
Cons
- Limited shopping and amenties

"A classy little area with great schools and a high price tag"
Niwot is a predominantly white area with over 91% of the population being white. This small community of just over 4,000 has a median household income of $107,000 which is well above the state average of $55,000. Median home prices are in the range of $476,000, also much higher than the state average of $237,000. Residents of this small community have some of the best schools in the state, all ranking a 10 on a scale of 1-10 for academic state testing standards. The teachers at these schools seem to be very dedicated to what they do and there is great involvement from both the community and parents alike.
As far as crime is concerned, Niwot is an overwhelmingly safe place to live. It ranks in the top 10% of safest places to live in the United States based on crime data.
While there are a few restaurants and businesses in Niwot, this is a rather sleepy area with mostly single family homes in the area. Niwot is the home of Black Cat Farm which is an organic farm that produces organic foods to supply their restaurant. This farm/restaurant also has a great internship program for those interested in organic gardening in relation to sustaining a restaurant and cooking from what is available on any given day.
