Rockvale

Rockvale is a small town just southwest of Florence and southeast of Canon City. With only 487 residents, this small town doesn't offer much in the way of amenities, shopping, or dining. It's close proximity to both Florence and Canon City means many of the residents are able to work in law enforcement since both of these towns have prisons located in them, and law enforcement is the number one occupation of the male residents of Rockvale. For females the most prevalent occupation is administrative support workers and healthcare. The town is predominantly white at 90% with Hispanic being the next most common race. The median household income for Rockvale is $35,370 which is lower than the state average of $55,430. But due in part to the lower wages here you can also find much less expensive housing. A median priced home goes for around $120,170, so that makes the cost of living here pretty good, if you don't care about amenities.

Since the town is so small there are no schools here. Any students living in this area go to the schools in Florence, which are ranked below average when it comes to state averages on standardized tests, although parents rate the schools a little higher.

I would recommend Rockvale for anyone looking for inexpensive housing and who wants to work in law enforcement or at a prison. In addition to the job opportunities here, it is a nice, quiet little town with some pretty neat older buildings, although there are some run down and abandoned ones as well.
