"I always enjoy visiting Strasburg"

I've had the pleasure to visit Strasburg a handful of times over the past few years, and I've always found it a very friendly little town. If you want a treat, attend their high school's annual play. You've just missed it for this year, but it's always great to see that the arts are alive in small-town America.
Pros
  • very laid back feel
  • close enough to Denver to commute

"Strasburg used to be known as Comanche Crossing"

Strasburg is about 25 miles east of Aurora and the Denver area along the I-70 corridor. It is a tiny community mostly involved in agriculture and the trucking industry and all things interstate that come with being along a main roadway from the great plains and the eastern states into Colorado.

Strasburg prides itself on sports and its schools have good spirit, a fall football game is a big community deal in the town. There are about 1,500 people that call the place home. Strasburg historically was known as Comacnche Crossing and was the location of the "joining of the rails", the real last link in the coast-to-coast railroad finished there in Strasburg in August 1870. It completed the Denver extension of the Kansas Pacific Railway. In town to this day you can check our the The Comanche Crossing Museum and learn about the history of the railway through this last part of the high plains before the journey into the Denver Basin and eventually into the great Rockies.

The average media household income in Strasburg is about $50,000, this is a nice middle class agriculturally centered community.

  • close enough to Denver to commute

"A great small town feel with friendly people"

Strasburg is located 45 minutes east of Denver on I-70. It's a small town with a population of about 2,500 people. Much of the population lives in the outer lying areas on farms or in homes with some acreage. Within the town itself are small houses which are mostly well tended. There are a couple of rather small subdivisions to the north and east of town which have affordable living for families.

The schools rank among the highest on the entire I-70 corridor for academics, although there is room for improvement. There is an overall feeling of community spirit here that isn't uncommon in small towns. Many of the residents have a history with the place that goes back several generations.

The town has several restaurants and a small bowling alley. Corona's is a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that does really well. There's also a Subway and a pizza place which has some of the best pizza in Colorado, but the prices are sky high. There is a vet clinic in town which services small animals to large herds of cattle and horses. Although I don't live in this town, I make it a point to bring my dogs here as the vets are just incredible with animals AND their owners. I always leave knowing I've had some of the best care out there.

There is a small medical clinic here and dentists and orthodontists. Many of the residents work in town and commute to Aurora, Denver International Airport, and Denver itself. While it's a long drive, the highway doesn't get congested until you're in Aurora near I-225.

This is an ideal place to raise a family with a laid back country feel to it.
