"Pretty homes in a scenic area"
Woodmoor is home to just shy of 8,800 people. It lies just east of Monument off of I-25, so it's centrally located between Colorado Springs and Castle Rock. The area itself is very pretty with many natural pine trees and some small lakes. Many of the homes have been built with the natural beauty of the area kept in mind, and seem to blend well with the surroundings instead of taking away from them. The median home value in this area is $405,000, which is considerably higher than the state of Colorado's average at $237,800. The median household income level here is high as well, with an average of $107,509. That's about $52,000 higher than the rest of Colorado.
For residents who have children here, they can attend some of the best public schools in the state. Lewis-Palmer receives a rating of 10 out of 10 and students consistently score extremely well on state standardized tests, as well as ACT and SAT tests. The elementary and middle schools are no different, and students repeatedly do very well at these schools also.
Occasionally along the interstate traffic will get backed up. This can be from travelers or weekend campers heading home. But within the neighborhood itself, there are never any issues with traffic. Although there aren't many places for shopping here, just across the highway there is a Safeway, a natural grocers, car repair places, gas stations, several fast food places, and a really good little pizza place in a small strip mall. I can't remember the name of it right now, but I've been there at least five times and every time it's as good as the last.
If I needed to move to somewhere closer to the Springs, I would certainly consider Woodmoor. I find it to be a charming little area with lots of wildlife and pretty homes. It's also a good location for getting from anywhere from Pueblo to Denver.

"Woodmoor -- a pricey but beautiful neighborhood north of Colorado Springs"
Woodmoor is home to about 8,700 residents and the average household income is reported to be about $100,000. This is a wealthy area less than 2 miles away from the town of Monument and Colorado Springs is about 25 miles to the south.
Woodmoor is just east of where the foothills start to climb into the Rocky Mountains and Pike National Forest. The area back in the 1980's was a loose rural community surrounded by open space that has slowly but surely been encroached on and there are many elaborate properties now where open space was not long ago.
Golfing is very popular in Woodmoor and includes the Woodmoor Country Club, Woodmoor Pines Golf courses, King's Deer and Glen Eagle Golf Club. Lake Woodmoor is another great recreation sport in Woodmoor and is popular for fishing and hiking. The homes in the area are surrounded by great views of the mountains, the plains, golf courses, lakes and other open spaces.
There are many elementary schools available within 5 miles of Woodmoor and a middle schools and high school in Woodmoor. The schools in the area get good ratings.
