Dam West

Houses in Dam West began going up in the mid 1970s, and continued into the mid 1980s. They are currently priced between the mid $100,000 range and the mid $200,000 range. There are also a few condos here that are going for a bit less than the houses are. While some of these houses were built rather close to one another, the neighborhood makes up for the closeness by the numerous open space areas that are within it. You never feel crowded in this neighborhood because of the wide streets, grassy areas, and parks. It's also a nice neighborhood that has character as the homes aren't all the exact same style or size.

Within the neighborhood are parks, a playground, a small building for community events, and an outdoor swimming pool, which has a team for resident's children.

The amazing thing about this neighborhood is how it seems so peaceful and quiet, while being in a very busy part of town. Parker Road is a major road going from Franktown way down south to Glendale which is just shy of Denver. Both Yale Avenue and Peoria Street are also major roads. Along the Yale side of the development there is a very nice, high brick wall made of the old fashioned small bricks that are sometimes used to make homes. It's very nicely done and taken care of and in addition to how it improves the look of the area it doubles as a noise guard. The wide streets within the neighborhood, as well as the open grassy areas every few streets, make this neighborhood seem open and friendly. The streets are situated so there are a lot of cul-de-sacs here, which is great for residents with kids.

Just down Parker Road a couple of minutes by car is a stop for the light rail which goes into Denver or down south. This could easily be accessed by a quick 5-10 minute walk also. This, in addition to the many bus stops along Parker Road, Yale Avenue, and Peoria Street make this an ideal neighborhood for public transport.

While there isn't much nightlife inside the neighborhood, there are some small bars and restaurants nearby. Up Parker Road just a couple of minutes away is Stampede, the large country-western bar and dance club. Shopping and dining are nearby as well.
