"At least the schools are good"
Cleveland Street, the street on the northern border of this region, is another of those Nashville streets with an “identity crisis”: as you move east on Cleveland from Ellington, Cleveland becomes West Eastland.
I lived on West Eastland for about four months back when I first moved to Nashville, and I have friends who live in this area now. Tiny box-like houses share blocks—or even streets—with large, multi-story old homes with spacious yards. But nearly all the houses, no matter what the size, need a touch-up here and there: the residents can’t afford to do more than they already are.
There are a couple of Magnet Schools in this area, though, which means excellent educational opportunities for the children in the area.
A stretch of this area along Ellington Parkway flooded during our deluge back in early May, and the actual Douglas Park did get some of that water. Damages were seen in the two westernmost blocks of this neighborhood, running the entire north-to-south length of the area.
MTA’s bus #30 runs through this neighborhood on weekdays. The #26 and the #56 go up and down Gallatin road seven days per week; the #26 is one of the most frequent and most-used routes in Nashville.

"Really bad park??"
I have driven down Main Street many times, but have to admit I have not driven into Douglas Park myself. I have read, however, it has the worst park in town. Bad facilities and bad maintenance does not a great park make. From what I hear at least.
Besides that, does this area bounded by Main, Gallatin, and Ellington Pkwy have anything going for it?
Looking at real estate websites, there are some fairly nice looking homes nearby for under $150,000. Living in the area, you would be fairly close to the East End and all the fun things to do at Five Points there, and also close to downtown.

"Douglas Park Area and Surrounding Areas of Douglas Park"
Douglas Park located near Spring Street in Nashville and Dickerson Pike. The area is well known for being the lower class residents of Nashville and will offer individuals who do not have a lot of money to get themselves an apartment. The Douglas Park area is not the safest area of Nashville as there is numerous other areas of town that are much safer. The area is well known also for being one of the areas that received a large amount of the flood waters when the May 1st 2010 flood took place.
Not to far from the Douglas Park area is home to a industrial area in which the Soundcheck industrial park received a large amount of flood waters as well and put a large number of country music stars’ equipment in danger and ruined most of their equipment when the flood took place. Such stars are Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and many more from the Nashville Area.
Just down the road is the LP Field which houses the Tennessee Titans football team and across the street is the Limelight Bar. Limelight is a bar that will allow you to get up close and personal with a number of the country music musicians from numerous recording studios. The Limelight is open nightly and will give you a great experience when looking to get personal with a number of residents of Nashville. This bar attracts not just members of the Nashville Community each year but also of other areas as well.
Not to far from Douglas Park is the McFerrin Park as well as Cleveland Park. Ellington Parkway is not to far away and will connect you from Downtown Nashville to the North Nashville area. In North Nashville, Madison and Rivergate, is where most of the shopping takes place. In Rivergate, the Rivergate mall is home to a number of stores such as Macy’s and Sears. In the Rivergate area you have a number of restaurants to choose from as well such as steakhouses and fast food restaurants. Just a short drive up the road from Douglas Park.
