"Foxhall Villages more affordable sibling"

Just as fashion designers create both haute couture fashion shows and lines for the rest of us to buy, so has Foxhall Village sprung off of Foxhall Crescent. The architecture is still gorgeous, and still reminiscent of the decadence the next neighborhood over, but at a price that seems much more reasonable for the average DC-ite. Green, safe, and family friendly, this part of town seems like it would fit just as well in an episode of Leave It to Beaver as it would in real life. And really, let's be honest, would you rather hang out with someone in an elitist mansion, or be friends with someone more approachable?

"Neighborhood within a neighborhood"

Foxhall Village s a neighborhood of approximately 3,639 residents located in the northwest section of the city near Georgetown. In general the boundaries of the neighborhood are formed by Canal Road N.W, Glover Archbold Park, W Street N.W. and Whitehaven Parkway N.W.. The average price of a home sold in 2010 was $868,038, with 53% of the homes being owner occupied. Homes here are typically a mix of attached and detached single family homes as multifamily homes.

Foxhall Village is primarily a residential neighborhood with limited amenities. Families here have access to a number of schools including Georgetown Day School - Lower and Middle Schools, St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School, Our Lady of Victory School and the Montessori School - Washington. Although many of the streets are tree lined, there is dedicated green space in Foundry Branch Park, Glover Archbold Park, Hardy Playground and Reservior Playground. Shopping and dining opportunities are limited, but nearby Georgetown can meet those needs. Residents will find 3 places of worship here as well as numerous Metro Bus stops.

Foxhall is a very safe neighborhood according to the most recent crime statistics with crime primarily being a limited number of property type crimes. As always check the most recent crime statistics and make an informed decision as to the crime risks in any neighborhood. Anyway, I really like this neighborhood!

"Georgetown suburb"

People who live in Foxhall Village enjoy their peace and quiet. That is why, faced with Georgetown University expansions, the residents have united in protest. The sense of community is strong, with one of the most active civic associations in the city. Housing is very expensive, and isolation carefully guarded. So, there are no shops or restaurants, or anything else for that matter. Like Foxhall Crescent, the residents of Foxhall Village do enjoy the amenities of Georgetown: so long as Georgetown stays in Georgetown. The presence of Georgetown University students in the neighborhood is strongly disliked: never mind that the degree of their presence will always be limited by the expense of housing. Many can get a better deal elsewhere.
Like neighboring Georgetown and Foxhall Crescent, the local children have the luxury of the best DC schools have to offer. Naturally, many parents prefer to send their children to the neighborhood private schools (there are several) because they can afford it, but still public school is a reasonable option here. It means that you can spend more of your income on housing should you choose to do so. Do keep in mind: there is very little parking, and even less public transportation in the neighborhood, and for these you may have to go to Georgetown. But, if you want a quiet getaway then arguably the inconvenience is worth it.

"Tudor Splendor on American Soil"

You will always know when you have entered Foxhall Village. The 150 Tudor style brick homes, most of which were built during the housing boom of the 1920s. stand out from among other neighborhoods like a portrait of HenryVIII does from those of his wives.

Foxhall Village is affluent and has a strong sense of community. There is an active civic group that meets monthly to monitor the goings on both in the community and in the areas around it. They are always on guard against anything that might harm the community or its residents.

In spite of this viligence, there has been a small uptick in the amount of crime in the area. While this is likely a symptom of the poor economy, it is, nonetheless, a cause for concern. Neighbors are being warned to avoid tempting fate by leaving valuable locked in cars or in front of windows.

Even more frightening, there have been several incidents over the past year in which neighbors have been robbed while out walking. There have also been a couple of home invasions. While all these events are, of course, frightening, it is important ot remember that no one has been injured, and that the Community Association is on top of the problem and anticipates bringing it to a successful end.
