"A Hint of Old Time Portland...."
Goose Hollow is a beautiful section of Portland offering a hint of what old time Portland must have been like. Filled with impressive, upscale, turn of the century homes, the neighborhoods also include quaint stores, locally owned coffee shops and central to some of the best attractions and parks Portland offers. By far, the best area is that included along the western border: The Rose Garden, Japanese Garden and Zoo are here as well as Washington Park, probably the best park in all of Oregon, maybe the country, as far as I'm concerned. Also nearby, Jeld-Wen Field, home of the Timbers, Portland's official soccer team. As season ticket holders, I can tell you that this area gets very loud and noisy when the Timbers are in town. I would not want to live in the area surrounding this field. Public transportation is ample in this area and you can be in downtown Portland within minutes. If you have a large budget, this is probably one of the best places to live in the city.

"Beautiful Neighborhood of Historic Homes"
Goose Hollow, one of the beautiful historic districts of Portland, offers great access to downtown. Because of its central location, you're near most of the popular shopping and dining districts, along with tourist activities like the Zoo and Arboretum. With public transportation and easy access to freeways, you can get to any other area of the city quickly. However, the hill can be a bit steep for those who would rather walk. On the up side, the hill does offer a great view.
The neighborhood itself is home to the Portland Timbers' professional soccer stadium, officially called Jeld-Wen Field (though many residents still call it by its former name, PGE Park). This is great for soccer fans, but maybe not so great for those who would be bothered by the traffic and noise of game days. Lincoln High School, which is highly regarded, is also located here. As far as shopping and dining, there are a number of popular historic restaurants. Goose Hollow Inn is the best-known of these.
Because of its great location, homes in Goose Hollow tend to be expensive, though if you can afford it I highly recommend this area. Houses tend to be large and beautiful. Many of the homes are historic, and feature imaginative architecture that makes it a true delight to drive or walk the streets of Goose Hollow.

"Great architecture and near Washington Park"
Goose Hollow is a great location, as far as I am considered. You are right near downtown Portland and the Pearl district and Nob Hill are both easily accessible. If you like sports, you can find PGE Park right in Goose Hollow. Of course, on the negative side, the noise and traffic from the stadium could easily become a huge hassle. However, the public transportation options in this section of town are amazing, and you can easily get to anywhere in the city.
One major advantage is that you are located just a stone's throw from the impressively massive Washington Park. This means that you are close to all the attractions it offers including the Zoo, Japanese Garden, Arboretum, and Pittock Mansion, just to name a few options. If you hike in the Arboretum, you will literally feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere, which is really impressive for a park in the middle of the city.
The homes in Goose Hollow are bound to be expensive, however. Some of the architecture that you will find is simply amazing! If you have the money, you can probably find your dream home in Goose Hollow.
