"A sometimes misunderstood part of town"
Heather Gardens has long been known to be the home of Heather Gardens, the adult retirement community. While this does take up a large part of the area here, it is not the only housing available. There are many single family homes here as well as businesses and restaurants. The retirement community does have a golf course and some high rise apartments.
The neighborhood lies next to a very busy section of I-225, and both Iliff Avenue and Chamber Road are busy streets as well. For families that live in the neighborhood, across Chamber Road is Olympic Park, which is a great outdoor area for baseball and softball fields. There are also playgrounds and concession stands open during the season. The neighborhood is also located close to Cherry Creek State Park which offers camping, walking and jogging trails, bicycling, a swim beach and other water sports.
Housing prices for the condos, town homes, and single family homes are lower than average for the state of Colorado. With the recent economic downturn, there are numerous properties available at lower than normal prices, and many foreclosures as well.
