Washington Avenue
"Memorial Park"
Washington Ave / Memorial Park are wonderful portions of Houston. This neighborhood is located near Interstate 10 and inside the 610 Loop. Main streets traveled in the area are Memorial Drive, Studemont, and Yale. This is a busy area of Houston, and very close to the Historic Heights that has become a popular residential area again after the many restorations.
Memorial Park takes up the Western portion of this neighborhood, and is a very plush and active part of Houston which is occupied daily by athletes exercising and training for marathons, dog walkers, and mommy stroller groups. You will find a variety of restaurants in the area, mostly smaller hole in the wall (but well known joints). For shopping you will want to head to I-10 or The Galleria area.
