Relocating my family to Seattle, where is the best neighborhood to live?

I am looking for an affordable rental, under $1700 a month. I will be working in Westlake, and need to know where to look for a safe place for my wife and toddler and I to live. We would like a modest 2 bedroom 1 bath. We do not need anything big, as we live in a 774 sqft house at the moment and do just fine. Thank you for any help!
