"Mining and gas exploration is all there is in Sheridan Lake"
Sheridan Lake is a small little town on the eastern border of Colorado, just a few minutes from the Kansas border. Only 88 residents call Sheridan Lake home, and the majority of the residents work in mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction or construction. This small town doesn't offer much in the way of amenities and there are no shops or restaurants to speak of. The median household income here is $14,789 which is way below the state average. Along with the lower income rates is lower home rates and the median priced home here is $12,698. Most of Sheridan Lake looks run down and although there are signs of businesses from the past, it doesn't look as if there will be any coming any time soon. You can still see grain elevators here, although I'm not sure if they are being used or not. Only 13% of the town's residents claim to work in agriculture or forestry, fishing, and hunting.
Since there are no amenities here and it's almost an hour drive to Lamar, the nearest (not so big) town, I wouldn't really recommend Sheridan Lake for anyone other than somebody looking to get away from it all...and I mean all.
