"Sherrelwood is a neighborhood area north of Denver"

Sherrelwood is an area of Denver with a population of nearly 20,000 people packed in between Federal Heights and Westminster. Sherrelwood is basically the neighborhoods along the east of HW 36 and the west of I-25 just before the two highways meet each other just north of Denver. This is a great location for getting to most places in the Denver area including DIA.

The average household median income in the Sherrelwood neighborhoods is above $40,000. Funny but the area of Sherrelwood is not really a known word outide of the northern Denver area, the area is better known as part of Westminster or even the southern tail of Federal Heights, this area of Denver is very congested and there are no lack of restaurants, shopping venues, malls, theatres and things to do. Not a bad place if you want to live close to Denver and do not mind being so surrounded by highways.
Pros
  • close to many things
  • lower cost of living
Cons
  • lots of traffic in this area
  • poor school performance

"A single family home neighborhood surrounded by busy streets and a highway"

Sherrelwood is mainly a neighborhood of family housing with some restaurants and businesses lying on the outer borders. The area is predominately hispanic with almost 60% of the residents being of hispanic origin, followed by white, then a mixture. This area is located within borders that are all very busy when it comes to traffic and commuters. Boulder Turnpike is busy at times even in non-peak hours, Interstate 25 is very busy along this stretch of road, and can be a downright nightmare during peak times. 88th Avenue can also get very backed up as it is an exit for the highway. One of the benefits of living here is the location though, as it has easy (if not quick) access to downtown, Boulder, Broomfield, Thornton, and Commerce City.

This is a predominantly family oriented neighborhood, but unfortunately the schools here aren't too good. They repeatedly score well below state testing standards and there doesn't seem to be much change that reflects there will be changes to this issue anytime soon.

One reason this area may appeal to some is the lower cost of living. The median home price in Colorado is $237,800 while in this neighborhood it's $172,234. The median household income is also lower than the state average of $55,430 at $42,775.

There aren't any medical facilities here, but the neighborhood is located just adjacent to St. Anthony's North Hospital for any emergency needs. There are also gas stations, pawn shops, small stores, and a few restaurants in the area.
Pros
  • lower cost of living
  • close to many things
Cons
  • poor school performance
  • lots of traffic in this area
