Areas I should avoid?

I'm a single mom of two relocating to South Carolina next summer and I'd like to live near Myrtle Beach. I'm finding rent in Socastee, Condway, Garden City... some inlet place, can anyone please steer me in the right direction?! Thank you in advance!
