Whats it like living in the South Chicago neighborhood of Chicago?

Honestly, I'd avoid living in South Chicago if I could help it. It's not that it's the worst neighborhood, but there's very little to do, it's not terribly safe, and the empty buildings are depressing.

South Chicago used to be the home of US Steel. The city is in the midst of a revival with the building of new roads and clearing of old abandoned buildings. Some areas are still not very safe, especially at night. It is in the midst of change and hopefully change for the better.
