"University Village- North Tampa"
I just sort of landed in Tampa, meaning, I didn't know anyone here to advise me of the 'do's and don't's' of where to live. As fate would have it, I ended up in a rather shady area, University Village (also is known as Suitcase City due to the people being transient...as in never unpacking, lol...). Though the area is wonderful for eating out and having a close proximity to the USF, entertainment and shopping, this particular area is a den of unsavory characters...drug use and drug sales in particular. It has been told to me that there has been a marked improvement of the area, which I don't doubt, and the Sheriff cars drive by fairly often, it still would not have been my choice of locale, had I known in advance. Still searching for a better location to live, though I'm locked in for a year in my lease (at the time of this writing= 9 more months)...sigh.
Pros
- Shopping, eateries, Busch Gardens, entertainment, public transportation, internet services, centrally located.
Cons
- Not the best area to feel safe, no walking alone after 9 pm. Not the most updated area.
