It will always be Marshall Field's to me

The weather is changing. Summer is fading into fall (this summer will not give up easily though), the leaves are falling, and there are pumpkins out; soon it will be winter, with that come the holidays.

I remember as a child going to see the Nutcracker in the city with my mother and walking up and down State Street looking in the windows of Marshall Field's at the displays, I waited all year for that trip.

When Field's gave way to Macy's and Skate on State went away, those trips lost some of their magic.

I will always treasure them; now I can make new traditions with my children.
