Walking around / cleanliness / gyms

I'm considering buying in the area. Do you ever feel unsafe walking south from the Western stop? Also, why is Western so dirty? Was this a one off when i walked through the neighborhood or is it a persistent problem? Lastly, any good gyms in the area?

It is safe. I lived on Western for many years and never had a problem. I will tell you Western is dirty because people throw stuff our their windows when driving and it has nothing to do with the people who live there. We're always cleaning that area but watch for many new buildings to spruce it up.
