Tribeca, New York City crime - do the locals think there is alot of crime in the neighborhood?

Tribeca is a pretty posh neighborhood so there isn't a lot of crime, per se. I think the part of Tribeca around 6th is sketchy as hell, though. So, if you're seriously looking at the neighborhood, live around Greenwich. It's beautiful, quiet and easier to navigate as you don't have to deal with the crowds.
