Where should I live with a job on the UES?

I just took a job at a hospital on the UES. I genuinely have no clue where to live! I am a single female, mid-20s, not a huge into partying at all. I only work 3x a week but very long shifts and am concerned that the commute to/from Brooklyn might be too much? I've considered living in hospital housing as its cheaper, however the UES is dead in terms of life outside of work, and mass transit in the area is slim pickings. Anyone have any suggestions on areas to look? Have been considering Greenpoint (could use the ferry), Park Slope, Fort Greene, Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens area. Any input would be helpful :)
