I want to move to Upper West Side Manhattan I need to find a cheap place any ideas?

I would really like to move to Upper West Side Manhattan it is my ultimate dream! I am from England and I have been searching for places to rent for a while and cant seem to find one around my price range, im looking for a 1-2 bedroom place but like i said i need to find a job too to support myself its a complete stab in the dark me moving here, Is there anyone that could help me find a place or have any information for me to help me on my way?
