"17th Street, Brooklyn, New York"

I lived on 17th street between 5th and 6th Avenues. Its a mix of apartment buildings, two and three family homes, most of which have backyards. There is a small park with swings close to 6th Ave. Fifth Ave. has plenty of bars, restaurants, and shopping opportunities. Lenny's Pizza has genuine Brooklyn pizza and is open into the wee hours of the night. Eagle Provisions is a Polish grocery, with a large selection of Eastern European beers, and a great produce and food selection. Buttermilk on Fifth is a terrific neighborhood bar. The biggest drawback is the entry ramp to the Prospect Expressway located between 4th and 5th Aves. and the general proximity to the Expressway.

NeverSleeps I'm not that crazy about Lenny's - Cotta-Bene is way better, way up on 3rd but they deliver - but the beer selection at Eagle is awesome, and totally agree about the unfortunate location of the Prospect Expressway entry ramp....

"Beverley Road, Brooklyn Residential Street"

Beverly Road runs through Kensington, Brooklyn. In Kensington, the residential street is lined with Co-op buildings and 2 family houses with 1st and 2nd floor porches. There are some beautiful gardens and landscaping in the front yards on this street. The houses are well maintained, many have been renovated in the last few years. Kensington is becoming more and more popular with young couples and families that have been priced out of other Brooklyn neighborhoods and are looking for more space for their money. Beverly is one block away from Church Ave. which has a drugstore, groceries, pizza and bagel places. The F train Church Avenue stop is easily accessible and the B67 and B35 buses stop within a couple of blocks. In Ditmas Park, the Q train stop is Beverly Avenue (note the spelling).

"St. Edwards Street, Fort Greene, Brooklyn"

St. Edwards Street runs along the West side of Fort Greene Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. This corner of the park boast a big beautiful children's playground withy castle shaped climbing structures and slides, as well as sprinklers, paths, benches, and tall old trees. Its gorgeous in the spring and fall.
A senior citizens home is across from the park.
On the other side of Myrtle Avenue St.Michael & Edwards church, a gorgeous stone church with turrets, spires and a statue of the Virgin Mary in the front of the building. New York City public housing projects, Ingersoll Houses and Walt Whitman houses line the street, along with the Walt Whitman branch of the Brooklyn Public Library and a school which houses both PS 67 and Community Roots Charter School. I always think its a really interesting example of urban planning, situating community resources like a school, library, and church in the center of a public housing complex. I do think it keeps the street more populated and safer. You get a perfect view of the Empire State Building looking north on St. Edwards Street.
I've worked on this street.
