"Gotta Love That Old-Country Feeling of Germantown, NY!"

Germantown is a great place to visit in Columbia County if you're into old-fashioned farmer's markets: and the place I'm referring to is Otto's Market which is on Main Street right in town. Open Monday through Saturday from 7am til 7pm and Sundays from 7am til 3pm, Otto's Market offers Breakfast and Lunch o a daily basis, and is the one-stop place for all your grocery shopping needs. It's been a part of the community since the year of 1927, and is one of the few-remaining old-fashioned grocery stores with fine prices and a wonderful selection of basic goods. There's a fantastic deli that offers a small coffee at $1.50, and you can get cookies or brownies costing between only $0.99 and $1.59; muffins (there's usually 2 varieties each day) are $1.75 and you can get a small cake here for under $2.00; it's a fantastic place to gt a Capaccino or Latte for only $2.50 and you can get an Espresso for $2.00; a large coffee is the same exact price! This is the place to go if you want to take your parents or best friend or sweetheart out for coffee and a wonderful old-fashioned country breakfast and/or lunch (and you'll never be without your coffee while you shop!). All the stuff at the deli and bakery are made on the fresh each and every day, right on the premises: it's definitely not one to be missed: and you can bet your grandparents will adore you even more for it!

Germantown also offers Angelika Westerhoff antiques and is not that far from the nearby town of Saugerties with its Saugrties Antiques Gallery and Saugerties Antiques Center, From Eaurope To You, Sac Antiques, and Fed-On Lights Antiques (and ltos more). There's also Townhouse Antiques or Swamp Angel Antiques in beautiful Catskill NY. There's more where that came from across Columbia County and you can be sure to make a day of it, if you will.

Kids attend the fairly rated Germantown Central School District, with a community rating of 4 out of 5 stars and a graduation rate of 92.1% and very low dropout rate. The town doesn't have many stores but Otto's more than makes up for it. There's plenty of amenities within close driving range in neighboring towns like Saugerties, Catskill and Hudson, NY. All lie in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley, right near the Hudson River and the wonderful natural beauty of the recreational treasures, the Berkshire and Catskill Mountains.

"Enjoy Live Music by the Lake as well as Other Lake-Related Activities"

Aside from being the largest lake used for recreation in Columbia County, NY, Copake Lake offers the Copake Country Club and the 5 stars Greens Restaurant---offering lovely views of Copake Lake. It's an upscale restaurant of top-notch quality, with a divine menu of wonderful variety, and the same goes for the wine list. You can come here for brunch as well and the kids will be well cared for!

There's also the beautiful Lighthouse Marina, a huge facility that's right on Copake Lake where you can eat either before (or after) you take your boat out. There's an adorable restaurant/cafe here that also offers outdoor seating with great lake views, and the prices range between $10 and $30, a perfect lunch or evening dinner with the family. There's live music on weekends right on the patio, and the restaurant also offers tastings on occasion enjoyed with the restaurant's very own house chef. Don't forget the Lighthouse's 4th of July BBQ every year---an event not to be missed! During the summer there's also fun-filled events like boat parade and Speedo contests, and food that's fresh from the farm (“Farm to Table Dinners”). Also in the Summer you won't want to miss their Clamb Bake, during which patrons enjoy live music and the nice lake breeze ($35 per person for dinner and music; for those who just come by to hear the music, you can buy your tickets at $5 in advance online, or you can get them $10 when you arrive, it's a great way to save for the event of the year)!
