Longshore Ave
"Quiet and Friendly Like a Suburb"
I've walked down this street a hundred times without appreciating it. Then one night, I got off the train around 11:30PM, and my tired, hungry, cranky baby wailed the entire walk over to my grandmother's house. I took Longshore because it was open and well-lit, but I was most impressed because no one seemed bothered by my baby's crying. One woman even offered to give me a ride. Very neighborly.

East Pacific St
"Great street for families with children"
My aunt lives on this street, and throughout the years I've spent visiting her, I've seen this street grow from a street of mostly stodgy, suspicious people to a street with happy, outgoing families. They have frequent block parties, and although it's every man for himself when it comes to food, they all pitch in when it comes to watching the children and keeping everyone safe.

Tyson Ave
"Well-maintained and friendly"
I adore Tyson street. The homes and lawns are very well-maintained, and the people who maintain them are beautiful and friendly. I had a friend who lived on Tyson, and one night we snuck out to meet up with some friends. The neighbors were so awesome and polite even when we got a bit too rowdy. Also, when my husband and I were just dating, we walked quite a few times down this street during different seasons, and it is very charming all year round.

Gillespie St
"Perfect for a horror movie at night"
I've never walked down this street during the daytime, so my experience may be tainted. My friend’s cousin used to live on this street, and we used to hang out with her once in a while. The very first time I visited, I commented on how I could easily picture a terrified, bloody woman running down the street with a psycho hot on her heels. It’s poorly lit, and I prefer to walk down the middle of the street instead of on the sidewalk.

Disston St
"Quiet and pretty, but a little creepy"
When I visit my grandmother, I walk up Disston Street from the Tacony train station, across Torresdale, and up until I start meandering over to Unruh. Although the sidewalks before Torresdale are not well-maintained, it’s a pretty little street. It is quiet, and there is very little traffic except for on the corner by 7-11. At night, because of all the bushes and overgrown plantlife, it's actually easier and safer to walk in the street, but I can never shake the feeling that someone or something's going to jump out of the shadows.
