"Fine!"

My ratings, which should not be factored into what they would be if I lived there now, reflect when I did live there, from 1944-52...a relatively short time, but because of my experiences there, that time period was the molder of my childhood and, to an extent, my adulthood. I still dream of my house on Crown (but no subsequent houses!). My house is identified as "approximately 30 Crown," but it was actually 16. Ours is the third on the right (from the top of the street, coming off Twin Peaks Blvd.), the small wood house with a balcony...from which I could see the sweep of the city, straight down Market Street, to the Bay Bridge and beyond...phenomenal view. We learned, after moving there, that there had been a speak-easy in the basement during Prohibition. What a kick! I attended Twin Peaks Grammar School, at the right-hand corner of Corbett and Iron Alley (it really was an alley); the school was razed some years ago. Another school, by the same name, I believe, is farther up Corbett. I could go on...so many memories. One thing: Crown is ON Twin Peaks, and is PART of it...it is not "near" Twin Peaks.

Oh yes, if you travel (via the interactive website) down Twin Peaks Blvd., on the left you will see a tall, dirt slopel...we used to run down that hill so fast that if we stopped, we'd crash horribly on the rocks, because it was then a rock quarry, and the hill was called "Quarry Hill."

Thank you so very much for making this site available.
