"A little piece of the suburbs"

Laurelton is almost like a suburb and doesn't really fit in with the Big City feel of the rest of NYC. That's why it's a perfect place to raise a family. It provide a place to get fresh air and feel like your living in Long Island without truly leaving the city, even though it is fairly far from Manhattan. For example, it takes me and 1 1/2 hrs or more (depending on the MTA) on public transportation just to get to Woodside, Queens for school. But for the most part its relatively safe clean and gardener friendly. Laurelton is not for people that want to live a life of partying and nightlife or even people that like to eat out, its mostly for families . Laurelton has a lot of great daycare centers as well and for the most part is close to public transportation. The majority of the people are friendly and don't mind talking to you. This is averall a great neighborhood, I love it!!

"Perfect for raising kids"

There is a nearby school which is pretty good. The area is strictly residential and has the classic apperance of the rest of the area, quaint houses manicured lawns, friendly residents, kids playing and houses with a lot of curb appeal. It is quite clean and has moderate to no traffic. Being so close to an elementary school adds more reason to raise kids there. And there are plenty of kids out whether it be spring summer or even winter. The playground next to the school is also fun. It has swings, slides etc. and people would readily let you play in their games or teach you how to skateboard, even if they don't know you. The only thing is that at night some older kids come out sometimes and light firecrackers, though they pose no treat to anyone the firecrackers are dangerous, so stay away from the playground at night.

"Watch out for the traffic"

There is a lot of traffic on this street that much is quite obvious. This street is near my home and i usually take it to get to somewhere else. It is basically right next to Hook Creek Blvd and the highway (Belt Pkwy). There is not much to see here but there are residential homes. This street is in both Queens and Long Island. There are gas stations here and there, a cemetery, churches, and a strip mall in the Long Island section. This is basically a pass by street.

"Lots of variety!"

Liberty has a variety of things to enjoy. It has a college campus close by, plenty of shops, residential homes, and public transportation is easily accessible. This street has a lot of ethnic shops around and also a wide variety of chain stores. Though it isn't the prettiest or cleanest place you can find just about everything here

"Almost everything you need"

Springfield has a mix of everything. it has shops, supermarkets, fitness centers, local restaurants, chain restaurants, residential areas, and everything in between. However, it doesn't have much in the clothing department. Though not as safe as more inner streets in the area you won't mind at all. This is more of a local spot and has your fair share of schools and churches of all kinds. If you what to be closer to shopping I would recommend this, but beware it is an unpredictable place when it comes to safety. And also it has lots of traffic. I would recommend locals coming here but not tourists unless you are staying in the area because it would be a waste of time.

"One of the better BLVDs in Queens"

Francis Lewis Blvd is mainly a residential road, but there are businesses as well. The houses along Francis Lewis range from quaint manicured older homes, to newer construction homes that are a lot of the time extravagant and out of place, to what i call hobbit hole houses, which are Dutch inspired houses. Whether you take this Blvd to get to were you are going or you live or shop here, you will come and leave with a little bit of nice fresh air.

"Residental area good for kids"

This street is close to public transportation and usually has a lot of school kids wondering around playing games, riding skateboards or simply waiting for the bus. The area has a lot of older homes were most of the families have lived for a long time. Its like any other street and also has a good schools on or nearby the street. Its a good area to try and raise children since its quiet, clean and safe.

"Get up on your biking"

Brookville has a lengthy bike trail that will make any bikers happy. This street is right next to the highway, but most of the time you wouldn't even notice because of all the trees. One side is dedicated to houses which are well kept and well manicured. The other side has a connection of ponds with wildlife like ducks geese and frogs, bicycle path and park. The park is often filled with kids and other people playing things like cricket and basketball and other sports, and most of the time they would let you join in if you asked. Its nothing to go out of your way to see but it adds to the neighborhood.

"Closest Shopping for the area"

The street is filled with small local restaurants that are pleasantly ethnic, and some chain stores and restaurants. The only chain food restaurant there are is Dunkin Donuts, Jerk Hut and Coleman's Creamery. So if you are looking for McDonald's you are out of luck. This street is were most of the surrounding neighborhood shops for food, take karate classes, get there hair done, Visit the local bike shop, or do other little things. So, you will sometimes meet up with your neighbors. There is also an excellent school here. Though it doesn't have all one's shopping needs it gives the nearby neighborhoods a small town feel. But, there are constantly new stores and there are plans to develop this business street more, which brings a bitter sweet taste to the residents that live here.

"Not a place to visit"

This street is cleaner than a lot of streets around it but it is still dirty. The area comprises of Mexicans and Asians. It has some average restaurants but, they aren't really good enough to go out of your way for. Also, they have plenty of fast food and Chinese restaurants. Since the street is close to the above ground subway stations there is sometimes loud kids coming from school. The houses are below average and the neighborhood isn't very kid friendly. However they have some good local schools. Unless you have a reason for being there I wouldn't recommend visiting.

"Perfect Place for a family home"

The area of and around 130th ave is well kept. The majority of the residents enjoy gardening and regularly keep up their home's curb appeal. The street and neighborhood is very quite and safe so you don't have to worry about being out too late. The only noise comes from the cars on 130th ave that exit off of the nearby highway. But, the traffic is not distracting and doesn't effect the safety of the area. This street is very kid friendly and you would often times see kids playing outside. the residents are friendly and would greet you as you walk by. This is a very good street and I would recommended it to families and couples starting a family.(It also has a very freindly family day care at a house on the street)
