"The Rockridge Neighborhood"

Rockridge neighborhood is one of the best neighborhoods in Oakland. Rockridge is your own little piece of heaven where the suns always shine. It is bounded by Broadway and Telegraph Avenue, reaching from Berkeley border to 51st Street. The neighborhood has a diverse group of people, shops, and homes. It is the epiphany of a substantial neighborhood in Oakland Ca. Long time residents and college student mingle amongst each other at the many restaurants and all the small shops. If anyone craves the down-home feel, Rockridge is the neighborhood that offers it. I enjoy walking home from the Bart station, congregateing at the markets, and enjoying friends company during breakfast. However, all of these amazing qualities have caused the prices of homes to rise much higher than the rest of Oakland. Rockridge is culturally, economically, and ethnically diverse.

"BEACON HILL aka The Hill"

Beacon Hill or The Hill as the locals like to call it is a beautiful place to live. Beacon Hill is divided into 4 sub-divisions South Beacon Hill (which is my home) North Beacon Hill, Holly Park, and Mid Beacon Hill. There is the Dr. Jose Rizal Park where you are able to see downtown, Lake Washington and Elliot Bay. If the weather is exceptionally good you may also catch a glimpse of the Olympic Mountains (which are beautiful). Beacon Hill also has a lot of history to offer especially in the homes. There are homes there that were built in the early 1900’s. Beacon Hills is also the headquarters for the famous Amazon.com.

Also on Blackrock there is a Cafe there named Café Sevilla that I love to stop in and have a cup of tea with my friends. "The Botanical Square"

This is place to spend some quality time with the lovies (love ones). There are good shopping places that I like to visit such as Foot Locker and Davis & Warshow. There are some educational places that you should absolutely visit with the kids. My kids love these places; there is the Bronx Historical Society that I think every person from the Bronx are live in the Bronx should go learn about the history of their neighborhood. Also near by there is the The New York Botanical Garden the whole reason for even visiting Botanical Square.

"The Mosholu Parkway"

I love Moshula Parkway it just give me that old New York feel. The road is is about 3 miles and it runs between the infamous New York Botanical Garden. It begins at interchange 8 of the Bronx river parkway. It passes through Bedford Park and itersects with grand concourse. There is also a school in the Moshula area that friend of mine use to go to. It is J.H.S 80 Mosholu which is a decent school to allow your children to attend.

"THE JERMONE AVE."

Jerome Avenue does not really have that much on it. Jerome is a thoroughfare in fact one of the longest in New York City in the borough of the Bronx. It stretches from the famous Yankee Stadium all the way to Woodlawn. There are some homes on Jerome but I would not recommend this place for a family to move and raise kids. The neighborhood is a little rough and also a little rough on the eyes. Some of the buildings on Jerome Avenue are old and run down.

"THE FAMOUS FORDHAM"

Fordham Bronx is home to the Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Garden. I have been to both places several times with and without my children and I loved it. The Botanical Garden is so romantic in the spring time. If you are into old architecture and style there is a part of Fordham that is called "Old Fordham Village" that still have cottages and buildings dating back to the colonial times in New England.

"THE HARDING POINT"

Harding Park is in south central Bronx. It is mainly a working class neighborhood and is one of the ok places in the Bronx to raise a family. The houses here are what you called detached bungalow style houses and they are somewhat close together. This is area is mainly populated by white people. Harding Point, also known as Clason Point has some unnamed and unmapped streets dating back to the 1920's.

"Nicknamed "Cinema Island""

City Island has a very big nautical community. There are a number of yacht clubs, boatyards, and marinas. Majority of the restaurants here are seafood and or Italian restaurants. When I visited I found out that there is only one hotel here which is La Refuge Inn. During the summer time and holidays City Island can get a little crowded from people coming in to enjoy the great food and the beautiful sunset that can be witnessed from here. The Island is compiled with great shopping areas, and water views.

"THE CO OPS ARE NICE"

Co Op city is the biggest residential housing in the U.S. It is a mixture of 236 townhouses and 35 high rises. Co Op city is like a city inside of New York City; it contains 3 shopping malls, 3 grade schools, 2 middle schools, a high school, corporate buildings, and an educational park that runs 25 acres. There are strict rules to becoming a resident here, you cannot have a felony conviction, have a credit score of 650, cannot be on section 8, and no other primary services. I recommend this place to older people and wealthy business people.

"STRAIGHT HOOD>>>IF NOT BORN & RAISE DON'T COME!!!"

I was born here and as far as I could remember it has always been a rough neighborhood. The "hood" or the development is surrounded by the several other housing projects but yet it is isolated, which encourages the violence even more. Half of the residents here live below the poverty line and is receiving assistance. The neighborhood is infested with drugs and gang activity.
There are a lot of public schools in the area such as J.H.S. 131 Albert Einstein, P.S. 069 The New Vision School, and P.S. 152 Evergreen. The subway to catch here is the 6 line which goes along the Westchester Ave. Soundview has been nick named "The Murder Capital" of New York. I would not recommend anyone moving here.
