"Great road for getting through town and to stores"

When I was looking for a local Wal Mart, I almost didn't find it because it said it was off of this road, but I couldn't find it. It actually is off a side street (the first one to the left if you're getting there from the 518).

This road also has the local urgent care center/health care center. If you take it north from the 518, you can get on the on ramp for the 18 without having to back track south east to the other 18 on ramp across Covington.

Hint for those with kids - there is a nice little play park in the parking lot of the multi-care center - it's shaded, and has picnic benches. I have had some great play dates there with the kids, and met other nice moms, too!

"New neighborhood, nice play structure"

I almost bought a house in this area before I settled on mine (a few blocks away, older but more square footage for the money).

I kind of wish I had moved here, though, because they have the only kids play area in anything remotely resembling walking distance, and the whole community has paved walking paths (whereas much of older Covington does not, and you're walking on the street with a stroller which is always kind of sketchy).

"Busy Traffic, Nice Neighbors, and the Ice Cream Man"

My rear neighbor (across my backyard) lives off of this street. It’s definitely got one thing over me in that the ice cream man stops at her street, but doesn’t come around to mine (and I’m not quite quick enough to run out around there and get him – argh!)
The street is also a cut through from 256th, so it gets a lot more traffic than a lot of the other private streets that don’t go through, so that’s one negative.
A lot of people on that street are really friendly and make great neighbors, though.

"Beautiful hilltop drive and view"

Take this road up a hill into a community of private homes. The drive up has a gorgeous winding view – one has to wonder how much their HOA’s are!
Once you’re up the street and can look around at the houses, though, they are all gorgeous places with great architecture, that look nothing like a lot of the cookie cutter houses you might see elsewhere.
It’s worth the drive, sometime, just to ooh and ahh over the homes…

"Has an on ramp for the 18 freeway"

SE 256th starts off as Smith street down in Kent, then it becomes 256th if you stay to the left, otherwise if you go to the right it becomes Kent-Kangly.
One of the facts that most people don’t realize is that 256th actually goes all the way through to the 18 freeway. I certainly didn’t know it until I discovered it by accident one day.
So if you’re coming home from Issaquah to Covington or Kent, you can get off there, or going to Renton or Issaquah, you can get on there!

"Library, Schools, and Beautiful Homes"

The library is off this street, so I'm up and down this road a lot.

There are schools off this street, so if you have kids, there's good school access.

If you want a beautiful home, or just like to look at them and "window shop" there are a bunch of beauties off this road. There are a bunch of older homes set back on large lots, where you kind of have to look through the trees to see them. There is also a street you can take off this road up to some REALLY gorgeous homes!

"Area starting to get kind of sketchy"

I really used to like living here - it is extremely convenient to downtown Kent - the new shopping center, the Amtrak, Target and Home Depot are just up the hill, etc.

But then, our area instigated a neighborhood watch, because so many people were having problems. I've heard of several break-ins, and several car break-ins as well.

There have also been at least one vagrant who lived on the street for a while.

There is also faster than usual street traffic for a residential street because people like to use Clark ave as a quick way to get from James to Smith.

There are also some plans in the works to build a large retirement center nearby. Great for the retirees, but not so great for the street traffic and amount of parking available for guests, for this road!!

"Love where I live - except for a couple things"

This is a great little street to live on. The area can be kind of confusing to navigate or to have friends come visit you because there are so many similar street names and streets that change names as they curve.

All the neighbors take good (if not great) care of their yards, most of the yards are fenced for the back yards. Some people have pets, but they're not noisy at night.

There are a lot of kids, so it can be kind of noisy with kid-noises, but usually not past 9pm.

Some people go dirt biking or off-roading or whatever on a plot near here, so that can get noisy sometimes, though they usually only do it in the afternoon (right when I was trying to take a nap!)

There are lots of good little restaurants around, including Italian and Thai.

It's a shoppers heaven for all your little day to day stuff, including a nearby COSTCO!!!!

If they brought in a Target and a movie theater -I'd never have to leave Covington...

"Best route from Kent to Covington, and great Starbucks access!"

This street is also highway 518 and goes all the way from the 5 to the 18 and beyond, into Maple Valley.
It’s the fastest route to get from the 5 or from Kent over to Covington. It also is the most convenient for access to shopping, and I have counted no fewer than 3 (and I may be missing a couple) Starbucks locations between the 5 and Covington. For a commuter, that’s great news – is the first one you get to too backed up with people? Just keep on going to the next one!
