West Schroeder Drive in Milwaukee is home to the Schroeder YMCA, located at its intersection with N. Green Bay Road. Here families can take part in physical activities that can help keep everyone physically fit, including swimming. Maybe that's a good thing, since on the opposite side of North Green Bay Road is a Culver's restaurant that serves a mean butterburger. Directly to the west, you'll find a Holiday Inn, in case you plan to spend the night in town. If you prefer, there is also a Candlewood Suites directly behind that facility.

County Line Road (Also known as County Q) is an east-west road that bisects Milwaukee and Ozaukee Counties in Wisconsin. At first glance, there doesn't seem to be much that stands out, but as you check further, you will find a small pub tucked in on the north side near the railroad tracks and a bike/walking path that runs parallel to the tracks. At the intersection of 76th St., you will see a large greenhouse operation, and as you travel west you will also see the county landfill site. At first blush, that wouldn't seem like much to write home about, but it's iteresting to see the pipes that stick up from the ground as vents, the swarms of seagulls that hover near the top of the main site, and the flame that burns of the excess gases, which actually looks pretty impressive at night if you don't know what it's there for. It's kind of an eternal flame.

North Port Washington Road in Milwaukee, or more appropriately, Glendale, WI, extends for a considerable distance, and the road winds around a lot, changing from one lane to two and then back again. When traveling on this road, you need to be aware of lanes that end. At Port Washington and Silver Spring, you will find the newly-renovated Bayshore Mall, a cornicopia of shops and restaurants, as well as giant parking buildings. This mall is unusal, since it goes more toward the "Main Street USA" look, with buildings that are disconnected from each other by the sidewalks outside. This mall even hosts condos on the upper floor of one of its buildings, so those of you who like to live at the mall can really do so.

West Brown Deer Road (Highway 100) from I-43 to N. Green Bay Road (Hwy 57) is fairly calm and a good drive, due to three lanes of traffic moving in each direction. The main things to watch out for on that portion of the road are the huge potholes that swallow cars every spring and the 35 mph speedlimit in Fox Point (about a two-mile stretch from I-43 to the west.) Once you enter the area west of Highway 57, the road bustles with businesses and factories. You will find a Cousins Subs, a liquor store, Target, Wal-Mart and many more on this stretch of the road. Even when it's not prime time drive time, you need to watch for cars darting into the road from the numerous driveways.

James Lovell is both cultural (thanks to the Milwaukee Public Museum) and no so much (due to large number of homeless people roaming the area and people traveling to the state office building to see their parole agents.) Also on this street, you will find the Police Safety Building, where many people go to pay traffic fines, and the main fire stations, which means a lot of sirens blaring at regular intervals throughout the day and night. For those anxious to get out of town, there are both a Greyhound bus terminal and a Badger bus terminal, almost directly across the street from each other, just north of James Lovell and Wisconsin Ave.

In the downtown area, at approximately 6th & Kilbourn, vehicles proceeding south will realize there's a lot to watch out for, including traffic whizzing out of a busy tunnel under Interstate 43 and many pedestrians crossing the road....not necessarily in the crosswalks. At 6th and Wells, you have an option to go ahead to Wisconsin Ave. or turn left or right onto Wells. Further south, you can access a ramp to Interstate 43. The Midwest Express Center is between Kilbourn and Wells, and hosts a variety of events during the year. To the left on Kilbourn are the Milwaukee Theater and the Bradley Center, home of the Milwaukee Bucks. The most important thing about the street is that its a good place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

North Green Bay Road in Brown Deer WI is also part of WI Highway 57 N., and becomes North Cedarburg Road at its intersection with County Line Road, where Milwaukee and Ozaukee Counties meet. Parts of the road are two way, but sections are also four way. At the junction of North Green Bay and W. Brown Deer Road (also WI Hwy 100) you will see a shopping mall, called Market Center, on the east side of the highway. There are a number of small shops in the mall, as well as Bed Bath & Beyond, Old Navy, TJ Maxx and Burlington Coat Factory. There is also a Pick N Save Grocery Store, and several good places to eat, including Applebee's, Quizno's . There is also a Wendy's on the west side of the highway, and a Culver's just north of that. A YMCA is across on the east side, so you can exercise off some of that food. If that doesn't work, the Glendale Clinic is back on the west side so you can consult medical personnel.
